Two names sit behind this site, and they do different jobs. One researches and writes every guide. The other edits, signs off, and doesn't take credit for sentences she didn't write.
Jessica Martinez
Contributing Writer, Business & Finance. Jessica researches and writes the guides and calculator copy on this site, pulling from published insurer rate filings and NAPHIA's industry reporting to build ranges a cat owner can actually plan a budget around. She isn't a veterinarian or an insurance underwriter; her background is in personal finance and consumer cost reporting, and she says so directly whenever a question needs an actual vet exam or a licensed agent's read on plan wording rather than a website estimate. Jessica also covers pet and household cost topics for a handful of other Encore Editorial sites.
Chris Terry
Publisher and Editor. Chris publishes Cat Insurance as part of the wider Encore Editorial group and holds every guide to the sourcing rules on our editorial standards page before it goes live. He doesn't write or byline the guides himself, that's Jessica's work; his job is oversight, checking the calculator's assumptions, and stepping in personally on any reader correction that's more involved than fixing a typo.
Why one byline covers everything
Every guide on this site carries Jessica Martinez's name because she's the one who dug into the pricing data and wrote it. There's no in-house "team" standing behind her and no invented panel of veterinary reviewers dressed up to look more authoritative than the work actually is. If a second writer ever joins this site, their name goes on what they actually wrote, not folded into a group credit.
